Well, our Gingerbread Man exhibition certainly seems to have captured everyone's imagination:  we have already received hundreds of entries and there are many more to come....gulp... ! We are going to have a very busy couple of days next week but it's a very exciting prospect (honestly!).

We'll look forward to welcoming as many of you as possible from 4pm onwards on Thursday 27th January when it officially opens to the public - and pleased to say that the Mayor of Taunton Deane will be popping along at some point during proceedings - he has been a big supporter of our work so far.  Will try to post some photographs to give a flavour of what you could expect soon...

The Gingerbread Man Project

Oh Crumbs!  We need you...

The Gallery will be 3 years old at the end of January 2011, and so we are holding a celebratory exhibition based around the story of the little gingerbread man.  The exhibition will showcase a body of work including participation by schools and colleges in the Taunton, Wellington and Bridgwater areas and a wider community arts project.

To coincide with the community piece we are asking local artists to create pieces of work based on an exploration of the themes and ideas inherent to the tale.

We are looking for as many people as possible to participate in this exciting project, so please do take a look at one of the links below and, if you find it captures your imagination, just drop us a line to let us know you are planning to take part.

We have drawn up a more formal statement of intent for artists which is also available through a link below.  If you have any questions about the project do contact us either through the shop, by email on This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. Gingerbread Project

Just seen that our local paper, the Somerset County Gazette, has put an article about the Gingerbread Man project on their website.  It refers people to our website, so I must hurry up and get the details of this project on here.  So if anyone is reading this and is impatient to know more today, just drop us a quick email, or call the shop, and we will fill you in.  Otherwise, I will try and make sure that the information is available to download from here by tomorrow...

Our Birthday Exhibition

January will be an exciting month for Ginger Fig - we are about to launch big community art project which we hope will involve everyone from the youngest child upwards!
