I primarily use the intaglio drypoint method of printmaking to create abstract works, detailed ‘townscapes’ of particular areas and ‘life-maps’ which are commissioned narrative portraits for private clients. I generally print in monochrome and introduce colour through the chine colle method or by hand tinting in watercolours. Essentially, I translate images and thoughts into simple, flowing shapes and lines within a detailed, narrative composition. I try to maintain all aspects of our modern skylines including ‘industrial’ views; pylons, wind farms, road, tenement blocks, as well as our traditionally beautiful landscape which sits alongside.
